The flag of Nova Scotia is a blue saltire on a white field with the Scottish royal arms in the center. The arms has a red lion rampant on a gold shield surrounded by a double border and embellished with the fliers de lis. The flag was granted by King Charles I and adopted in 1858. It is influenced by the flag of Scotland which has a white saltire on a blue field.
