Based in Oakland, California, the Golden State Warriors started out in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors in Pennsylvania. In 1962, the team moved to California and changed their name to San Francisco Warriors. A few years later they renamed themselves once again to Golden State Warriors after the moniker of the state. The National Basketball Association (NBA) team is affectionately known as the Dubs by fans and plays the home games at the Oracle Arena.
