Designed by Harold Thomas originally for the land rights movement and first flown in July 1971, the Australian Aboriginal Flag has three colors in its palette – black, red and yellow; Pantone® values of these colors have been specified as Black C, 1795 C (or 179 C) and 123 C. The hexadecimal, RGB and CMYK codes are in the table. The black represents the indigenous people, red the land and also the ochre used in aboriginal ceremonies, and yellow is for the Sun.

On 14 July 1995, the Australian Aboriginal Flag along with the Torres Strait Islander Flag became official flags of Australia.
