The flag of the Republic of China (ROC), used from 1912 to 1928, had five colors – red, yellow, blue, white and black – which represented the distinct races in the sovereign country. The flag, in fact, depicted the main principle of the country – “Five Races Under One Union”. Red was for the Han, yellow for Manchus, blue for the Mongols, White for the Hui and black for the Tibetans.
